Hi. Because the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society won't be able to process
the donations by individuals in the SCA anymore in the aggregate (ie,
add them together) we needed to create a way to collect funds, hold
them and then donate the money all at once in the name of the SCA.
Better to have it outside the SCA so the money cannot be attached if
the SCA is sued. So, set up a separate non-profit. Why not let it be
able to help other non-profits? Why not have it help organize
fundraisers for all sorts of programs.... OK, my mind is on fire.
To that end, I am proposing a non-profit (tentatively called "5 Rivers
Fundraising - A Non-Profit Support Group")
It would take on a cause, bring in money from 5 channels:
1) Direct Donation (Coin Jars, direct appeals)
2) Service/Sacrifice Events (Service: Auctions, dedicated nights at
Restaurants, etc.) / (Sacrifice: organizing physical feats (Swims,
Tourneys, Climbs, etc.)
3) Internal Re-direction of funds advice to save money, re-direct
funds back into the Organization.
4) Products for sale that relate to the Goal Organization's themes.
5) Ben Franklin and other performances dedicated to the Goal
Organization.
Goal: 100% of money raised for a Goal Organization goes to that
Organization.
We generate our operating capital separately.
In addition to me, we have one other volunteer so far for the Board of
this: Carol Schnetter of Poulsbo. (In the SCA, she is the Baroness
there)
Seeking about 5 others. 1st Duty: Fill out forms to become a 501 C 3
organization. 2nd Duty: Find a replacement before you leave the
Board. Meets formally once a year. All other business done by email
and teleconference.
More anon. GregRobin.
