to $200 Web Tablet
I'm going to post a section for roles people are willing to fulfill.
If you get a chance post what you want to do. In addition, we need to
bring in more people. If you know anyone who is interested, ask them
to sign up. In addition, I sent a letter to Engadget and Gizmodo.
The message is listed below. I you have a chance and know of a good
place to get attention, please post the message. Also sending it to
Engadget and Gizmodo again would help give us some attention. Here it
is:

I am writing in regard to the article:

http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/07/21/we-want-a-dead-simple-web-tablet-help-us-build-it/

This was a project to build a $200 web tablet and got a huge community
response. This article was interesting to me because I have been
working on the project, myself. I also thought it was great that a
technology blog with a large reader base was organizing a mass of
people to create something that would benefit the public. I realize
the question arose if a tech blog is the proper place to start
developing hardware and software. I think that posting this plan
some place that offers a large base of people interested in
participating is at very least a good start. I frequently checked
back on the site, but was disappointed to see that no progress was
made. I don't know what happened; did someone email them a link to
another project that was attempting this, or did they just decide to
drop it? In the comment section I posted a link to a Google Group
that I created to organize people who wanted to work on the project.
A few people signed up, but we haven't done anything significant yet.
I am hoping for more recruitment. The reason I am writing you is to
ask if you can do an "Update" to your original story detailing how
nothing was done. Maybe at the end you can mention the Google Group
that was subsequently formed and that anyone wanting to participate
can join there. I understand that it is asking a lot, but I thought I
would give it a shot. the link to the Google Group is:
http://groups.google.com/group/200-web-tablet. I understand my name
isn't Michael Arrington, but the subject seems to be a popular one.

Thank you very much for your time,

Aaron
