The sun gazed down with a hopeful gleam
The lake felt it and woke from its dream
The frost feeling heat, started to melt
For the winter bleak, a death blow dealt
The light broke through without winter’s veil
With welcomed warmth for all to avail
The frosty mornings came to a cease
As spring rejoiced with another lease
The frozen lake awoke from its sleep
As slimy creatures rose from the deep
The wavelets played as a breeze dropped by
And fluffy clouds drifted in the sky
Nature displayed to lessen the gloom
As anxious flowers began to bloom
With fragrance wafting o’er hills and vales
A landscape stolen from fairy tales
Now creatures abuzz, both big and small
Greeting spring and for their mates to call
Wintering birds, returning in flights
Squabbled o’er sites for mating rights
