Hi Badge

I came across this download last night during one of my searches and I
thought I would pass on the link because Dance craze is not available
to buy on cd anymore and you can only find copies on ebay that sell
for crazy prices. I got my copy years ago from pulped fanzine run by
george marshall some how he got his hands on a load of u.s copies and
sold them through the fanzine for £10.00 each so I jumped at the
chance. I can remember the day when my cd arrived in the mail and the
shock I got when I noticed madness were not included on the cd it
pissed me off big time and it took a long time to except it. so like
you say the whole film should be re released again on DVD and a double
cd. this link is due to expire soon because it was first uploaded at
the end of september so grab your copies soon. I can also remember
buying the vinyl back in 1981 in a local record shop and I got no
poster even at the time of release.

enjoy

I too can recall Dance Craze being sold via Pulped and if my memory
serves me well it was advertised with Madness included. (I got mine
on import in a local record shop in about 1992. In fact it was the
first CD I ever bought). Back in the day put local flee pit had Take
It or Leave and Dance Craze as a double bill and a friend of mine
blagged the Take It or Leave it cinema poster and yours truly nabbed
the Dance Craze poster.

I have a real odd ball UK promo version of the Dance Craze LP. The
sleeve is opens up like a cardboard folder and contain a few pages of
about the film in which it states that the the middle section of the
film will contain cartoons(???). Plus Madness are no listed on the
sleeve but are included on the disc. Bonkers.

I've got a cassette tape version of Dance Craze, one half is black the other white and Madness are listed on the label and on the inlay and they play on the tape too.    I daren't play it now in case it gets chewed up!!

I have the film on Video and am still waiting for a DVD.  A lad I knew had a film booklet and the cover of that was blue and white, I lost track of him, but I bet he still isn't into Ska so that probably ended up as waste paper, was always gutted he wouldn't sell it to me!

Cheers all.

I saw this item on ebay last week did anybody on here win it ? I was
going to bid but I got cold feet. I had a feeling it would sell for a
high price.

Hey Paul,
I remember buying the vinyl as well, it was of the most exciting albums I had heard at that time and the first live album I had anything to do with, shame about Madness I agree.

Someone sent us in a very small scan of a supposed UK official CD release of Dance Craze sometime last year, has anyone here ever seen it? we're still slightly dubious about it's existance... from the scan it looks like it would have been pressed around the time of the two Specials CDs, and of course it included the Madness tracks...

I downloaded a Dance Craze bit-torrent not so long ago. Appears to be a rip of a UK version of the video. Quality is not bad and Madness are included. I'm still feeding it so anyone can grab a copy using u-torrent.

I remember Dance Craze well, even though I was only 12 at the time of its release. It's the only time an usherette has told me I can go and dance in front of the screen at a cinema. God bless the Dudley Odeon (RIP).

I asked if there were plans for re-release as I would have thought that Dance craze would have been among the top selling albums on two tone and captain Mod records re-released the selecter album Too Much Pressure. Am I reading too much into that?

I only found out about a year ago that more specials was originally
released on cd in 1989 on 2-tone so a uk copy of dance craze could
have been released for a short time. maybe it was withdrawn or
something I'm sure I saw a cd copy in virgin records around 1989 three
years before I had a cd player I never looked at the cd so it could
well have been the uk cd and going by that small scan it's a strong
possibility. listed below is a selection of cd's I saw in HMV & virgin
between 1989/93. I now own them all except for the uk Dance craze cd
and that's if the copy I saw was the uk release.

selecter - too much pressure (German)
special aka - in the studio (German)
the specials - specials (uk)
the specials - more specials (u.s.a)
this are two tone (uk)
the 2-tone story (uk)
compact 2-tone story (uk)
the best of 2-tone (uk)
Dance craze ?
the colourfield - virgins & philistines (u.s.a)
the colourfield - deception (uk)
