Hi all, I've been a member for a long, long time and read all emails when posted. Thank you all for keeping this going. I feel I need to say something about this post. Firstly, this album is a masterpiece and I  get why it is very popular with old and new fans, however I have this album a couple times already, including an original from 1979! Do I need to buy a third copy just to read a commentary by Jerry? Part of me says yes, because without Jerry there would be no Specials/2tone, no musical memories from that era or since. The other part of me saying no, I have the album and probably won't play it. Paul

It's a good point Paul, and it does start to feel a bit ridiculous when you are flicking through multiple copies of the same album. This one for me is interesting mainly because of the free single. The insert is nice, but the single is what made me pick it up.

I'm very much reminded of Henry Rollins talking about his obsession with the Ruts and the way he is driven to collect every version possible of every release. Search it up on YouTube, it's worth a watch.
I have 18 copies of this album, with the new releases in the last 10 years not even having been removed from the protective sleeve. I know for sure there's people on this list with many more than 18. None of us need to buy them. We're all just trying to re connect with that time of our lives when we bought this album for the first time. For me, this album, this band, this label, Jerry Dammers, 79-81, is a foundational corner stone of who I am. Encountering this music at 11 years old created my world view and political outlook. I'm pretty much still that 11 year old in turns of outlook and beliefs. I'm naturally a pack rat anyway. I still have my VHS videos of the recordings of the first airings of The Young Ones and Blackadder from around the same time. But this music is more than a collection to me, it's a fundamental part of who I and and that's why I buy every version of every release.
