Besides honoring the members of my family who have served this great
nation. I am drafting a new Declaration of Independence, only this
one will be declaring our independence from a corrupt government that
no longer represents the people, I have a friend who is going to get
attention to this effort from local radio show hosts. I gladly accept
input from other like minded Americans, who have something they would
like to add. The finished product will be posted on my blogs and on
Patriotic Resistence so that the debate can begin. If this new D of I
gains support and national attention I want to start a group of people
with the purpose of Reforming the Constitution to make sure that a
corrupt government will never get a chance to start. Yesterday my
friend and I were brainstorming over ways to stop corruption, we had a
few good ideas, example: We want to get rid of the electoral college,
a popular vote, every 4 years, with one thing to vote on, "Is it time
to change the govt"...Yes or no. IF the people vote yes, then local
elections will be held to choose to keep or fire all elected officials
from the local to the national level. This puts the power more firmly
in the hands of the people and the politicians will be on their best
behaviour for fear of losing their jobs. We also talked about making
service to this nation through the military should be the greatest
most honored job on earth. We also want to give everyone the right to
militia, supplied of its necessary equipment by the U.S. Army.
Because if America is ever invaded, it will be the common man fighting
for our freedom. More ideas to come. For some reason i can't post on

cant we just try to get the present constitution and declaration enforced?  think we would be lucky to do that one.  as i have said "it is not they back then that was the dumbies."  as ben franklin said while drafting the declaration, "keep it simply stupid."

Are you saying I am stupid for wanting to stop a long train of
abuses? Do you really think the govt is ever gonna listen to
protests, no, they will give us some minor concessions to shut us up.
Then they will go right back to misrepresentation and infringing on
our rights. The original Declaration is a beautiful thing, I would
never try to change things unless I truly believed things needed
changing. If everybody just accepted what already was and didn't
dream of what could be then we would be just mindless sheep following
the herd to our doom. It takes a person willing to step up and do
something to change the world. Good Luck getting your rights back.
Have you ever read the Declaration of Independence it is not simple or
simply stupid. It's a brilliant document that took intelligent
individuals to make it. Oh and it guarantees me the right to
revolution, like it says, "Whenever any form of Government becomes
corrupt or found to be no longer upholding the rights of the people,
it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to
institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and
organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely
to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate
that Governments long established should not be changed for light and
transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that
mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than
to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are
accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing
invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under
absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off
such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Ben Franklin said to keep it simply stupid so that every common man
could understand the intent of the original document. Not to prevent
us from getting our rights back and not to prevent us from taking back
power from a corrupt govt. Ben Franklin would be shocked to see the
abuse of power and he would be shamed by our lack of guts to do
anything about it.

No one said "they back then was the dumbies". I know they were
intelligent men, no different than the people today though. I don't
think they got it wrong, I think that what they did changed the world,
and they left open provisions for future Americans to do the same.
After all it was that great experiment that opened the world to free
thought and that led to the greatest advancements in human history, we
put people on the moon because they dared to create a free society
where freedom was cherished above all else.
If you look at a timeline for inventions, you will notice that the
rate of invention increases dramatically after the Revolutionary War.
And just what generation are you referring to? I'm 41, and have been
a patriot all my life.
