The Josephite English Alumni Network (JEAN) is intended as a support system for alumni of the MA programme at St. Joseph's College. We hope to provide through the Network an atmosphere of nurture and continued learning for English teachers during their initial years in the profession leading thus to professional enrichment and an engagement with the world of research.
JEAN will work by monthly meetings, usually on the third Saturday of the month, and by an annual, renewable membership. These meetings will feature what we call the Josephite approach--an emphasis on the art of teaching, rather than the science or the technology thereof. We have a wide-ranging set of activities planned for the coming year--these include sessions in experience-sharing and problem-solving, reflections on classroom management and syllabus making, interactions with writers and researchers in the field, introductions to latest developments in the field, and good conversation, fuelled by coffee, tea and good food.
Alumni who are interested are requested to drop in for a quick introductory meeting on Friday, 20 March 2015, at 4:30 pm. The first meeting is an informal, exploratory session. The venue is H-308, 3rd Floor, Humanities Block, St. Joseph's College, Langford Road. To confirm, or for more information, please text or call Etienne Rassendren (97410-08322), Arul Mani (97312-14519), or Vijeta Kumar (97410-57203).
