1Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery invites applications for the Next Step Residency 2026.
The Next-Step residency program offers five participating artists the following:

• Accommodation at 1Shanthiroad Studios.
  
• Food (Lunch provided every day, groceries for other meals).
  
• Round-trip transportation (proof required for reimbursement).
  
• Production stipend for each artist to produce work during the one-month Residency.

Eligibility criteria and Application requirements:

• This residency is open exclusively to visual artists, including lens-based and time-based works (film/video).
  
• Recent graduates (BFA/MFA), or self-trained artists with at least two years of an art practice may apply.
  
• This opportunity is only for Indian nationals.
  
• Google drive links to a portfolio of work from the last two years with a maximum of 10 images. Please provide each work's title, year, medium, and size. Applicants submitting images documenting installation, performance, and project-based work should include brief descriptions of the work.
  
• For time-based work (video/film), files can either be sent as web links to external sites (YouTube, Vimeo etc). Applicants should include the title, duration, year and a brief description for all of these works.
  
• A 500-word statement of purpose including an idea that you would like to explore during the residency.

Deadline to apply: 25 May 2026
An independent jury will deliberate and select the five artists.
Selected artists will be announced on 1 June 2025.
