The Collective is an association of artists. As of now, it happens to be Advithi Emmi, Dhanya Rajaram, and Seema Jain. Starting in August 2024, we met at regular intervals and broached a chosen subject for twelve weeks. There were no boundaries on how to respond, and anything from simply asking questions to creating something physical or palpable was acceptable.

Showing up in the body or as a digital presence( if one was travelling and away) was the only rule, as such, to join our group. Other artists joined in occasionally, but we three were the regulars, and hence, this exhibition showcases our collective repertoire.  The ‘Kitty’ in the 13th Kitty Party, etymologically stands for money that women collected and kept with their friends for safekeeping after the Partition. If you thought it meant women having fun, then that is true too.

The Collective works under the belief that by fostering a space for vulnerability, understanding, and acceptance, artists can create an art practice with more ease and honesty.

Hence, our show is an amalgamation of our performed and documented discourses, the trajectory of our creative processes, the end results, and the aim to bear it all as a deconstructed view of the artist’s mind.

Ramya Devi M calls herself a Life artist. She is a potter and handblock printer and a conscientious chef who cooks from scratch for her community. We invite her as an artist, to join us on the opening day with some of her Cooked Creations to celebrate with you all. Please come and eat dinner with us.
