Kanasu: A Conversation Between Dreams, Fabrics, and Symbols by Nancy Hammermeister

"Kanasu" means "dream" in Kannada. Dreams connect us to our subconscious, and discussing them helps forge connections between people.

Nancy Hammermeister, a resident artist at 1Shanthiroad, spent time in Bangalore collecting and documenting the dreams of various individuals she met.
This project gives space to these dreams and explores the intersection between dreams and reality and what unfolds from that interaction. She draws symbols from dreams and everyday life, suggesting symbols are a language beyond words. Memories and thoughts weave through fabrics, revealing more profound meanings.
