It’s A Jungle of Amazing Things Happening at M&M Extra Care
The Transformation has BEGUN!... so has the new school year, and like always, “Time Flies!” We are in full S.T.E.A.M. here in after care at South Canton. Students are becoming familiar with the routines and procedures and getting to know their M&M teachers. We are excited about the upcoming months and all we have planned to help the students grow in every aspect of their lives and continue to be excited about learning. We’re looking forward to having a WILD time this year and Making A Difference, Already! ! Hakuna Matata!

Announcements
Drop Off and Pick Up:
AM Drop off will be at DOOR #4 (south gym door) – You must walk your student to the door and knock for entry. For the safety of the children, do not drop your child off before 6:30 am.
PM Pick Up – Enter through DOOR #7, ring the doorbell located on the door someone will let you in. Please be patient, we will be walking up the hallway. Then you can go directly to your child’s assigned classroom below with your picture ID.

Upcoming Events: Adventure Centers Starting Tuesday, October 8, 2019: Students will be engaged in fun activities during the year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays (Students lead Adventure Center-Kids’ Club), and Thursdays from 5:15-5:55pm. The students also get to choose the Adventure Center they want to participate in for the three days. Our Adventure Centers include:
· Magnificent Musicians-Music is what Makes the World go Round!
· Games & Puzzles Galore - Play, Play…Group Games and more Play!
· Kids’ Club (Students’ Voice/students’ Choice) – student(s) led Adventure Center
· Fitness, Exercise, Dance & Sports (F.E.D.S.) - Let’s get our bodies moving! Staying healthy and in shape -some competition too!
· Crafty Creations-Amazing artistic Designs and more!
· S.T.E.A.M.-Design & Build-The integrated approach that enables all learners to maximize their potential.
Fire Prevention Week: Fire fighters from the fire department will be coming in to discuss fire safety with the students. Date and time TBA.
Friday, October 18, 2019: In-Service Day - South Canton Scholars will be closed on Friday, October 18. However, M & M will be open for a full day of service. Drop off and pick up will be at the gym door. Please visit our website at mandmextracare.com and register if you will need service on that day.
Wednesday, October 30, 2019 - Sip and Say Family Event and Celebration with M&M staff and students. Come and enjoy some light refreshments and music while you get to know a little more about our program, your child’s Enrichment Specialist and some of what your child does at M&M. Further information is forthcoming.

October Birthdays: Happy Birthday to all the students who are celebrating their birthday this month! Hope your day is as beautiful as the changing of the leaves in the fall and that your presents will be abundant as leaves falling from the trees.
Important Reminders
***Technology for FUN Friday-Students can bring in their technology on Fridays which includes a cell phone. However, students can play appropriate games. However, NO social media or phone calls are allowed.
***Please notify us if your student will be a drop in or absent: This year we are continuing with the same system as last year in which it allows us to better know who to expect in our program daily. The school does not let us know when a student is absent. Please simply text (734) 506-0535 with your student’s name and if they are going to be a drop in or absent and this will immediately notify Mrs. Susan. Thank You!
*** We close at 6:00pm: There is a $5.00 late fee per 15 minutes you are late to pick up. If the tardiness becomes regular, the late fee will be $1.00 per each minute. Excessive tardiness could lead to suspension from M & M.
***Cell Phones: We are aware that you may need to communicate with your student(s). However, in the event of an emergency, please use the M&M number provided to communicate. We have experienced students receiving phone calls and/or text messages from their parents and leaving to meet parents in the parking lot. For the safety of the students, we are asking that all students be picked up from their classrooms. Students are ONLY allowed to use technology on Fridays at M&M or when allowed by staff for special events.
***Schedule Changes or Withdrawal from Program: If you need to change your schedule or withdrawal from M&M, please use the Schedule Change Form that is located on our website on the Tools and Payments Page. It is required, per your contract, that all notice of change and/or removal from the program occur at least a week in advance and MUST be in writing. Using the Schedule Change form meets the requirement of the written form and it is very convenient. You MAY NOT simply tell an M&M Staff Member and expect that to be your notice. Our team members on site oversee the safety and care of the students, they are not expected to remember to report verbal communication from parents. Our home office staff, however, is fully equipped to handle your scheduling needs. Thank you so much with your cooperation in this regard.
