The Touch Of Winter
Winter has come
To visit again
To lay its icy hands
On the face
Of the lovely earth
A chilling touch
That leaves the earth
Shivering from the cold
Winter gives a chill
No matter how gentle her touch
With her frosty fingers
She came when the earth
Is still basking in the afterglow
Of its time with Autumn
Erasing all their memories
Covering the colors of leaves with snow
Winter dressed everything in white
As she showered snow on their their unresisting bodies
The trees stood in submission to her Whims
Like a spellbinder she cast a spell on earth
Everything she touched turned white, ethereal
She exudes an air of solemnity and indifference
Bereft of sweetness and tenderness
Just a chilling cold that bites
Cold Winter so unlike the sweet Autumn
Is a bitter and hard season to endure
She envelopes the earth with white
Veiling its face like a bride
A contrast to the beautiful Autumn
That leaves a sweetly poignant memory
In the colors of leaves in the trees she kissed
As they gayly drift in the wind
