It’s been snowing all night long.
The thrush twitters a sunny song.
The air is still but getting warm.
Oblique rays cast a zebra charm.
Puffs are rising from a chimney now.
Peter’s out with his milch cow.
Should I take the mountain road?
I think not, it recently snowed!
It’ll be best to don snow shoes,
To the bank for my pension dues.
Old forest track should be perfect today,
I’ll ask dear Martha; what does she say?
“Go through the woods, it’s full of charm”!
She chirps from the kitchen “Joe no harm”!
“While you are at it do the grocery as well,
Do remember the mail and broken bell.”
I wound up the path full of snow;
Shining in the sun with a heavenly glow.
Crooked old Oak by the boulders there.
My birches and conifers without a care.
I catch my breath by the fallen logs;
Hear an oink from those pesky hogs.
I get on my feet and go my way.
Blessed and happy in a glorious day.
I retired back to my childhood home;
Recall grandma and a knobbly gnome.
Lucky and elated for my choice and health;
I care not a fig for the cities wealth!
