Timewalkers, come join us for a living history tour of Yerba Buena City as it was in the not-so-distant past… in the year 2013.
Back
then, more of the city was above the waves. The clean, vibrant city we
know now was still in thrall to the gritty dirty energy economy of the
past. What were the challenges facing the people of 2013 as they learned
about climate change and the end of cheap oil? How did they respond to
the crisis that threatened to destroy the city, and how did they turn
everything around in just 34 years? You’ll go below modern sea level to
see the ruins of the submerged parts of what was once South of Market.
You’ll explore one of the very first urban farms that started the
movement of thousands that now provide 80% of San Francisco’s produce.
Enjoy a lunch provided by our friends at The Blue Tape Cafe, within
sight of a very important landmark where the old city’s leaders started
it all. Then, we’ll go to the site that catalyzed the urban farms
movement where you can tell your story, and maybe change history. How
did you help save the city and create the world we know in 2047?
