It's another full weekend on the
Volunteer Dashboard to wrap up January. The
Urban Share Community Garden has another big workday this Saturday from 10am-2pm. They're transforming a giant space on the corner of Gough and Eddy, and they have some pretty great folks working on the project and are doing some pretty cool stuff.
Recently, they built a shed out of palettes. On Saturday when they will be staking out garden beds and
working manure into the soil. Make sure you wear closed toed shoes. A yummy vegan
lunch is provided for workers!
Also on the 'board this weekend is a
Mushroom Garden Workshop.
Learn to grow delicious culinary
mushrooms as well as medicinal mushrooms in your own backyard with Ken
Litchfield of the Mycological Society of SF and Casey Allen of SF
Landscapes . This workshop is FULL, so hopefully if you missed the chance to participate, they will hgave another one.Also on Saturday, the Growing Home Community Garden will be having another big volunteer day from 11AM-4PM, at the garden site
on the East side of Octavia Street between Page & Oak. They will be preparing the site for planting by finishing up the planter
beds & clearing up the area.
On Sunday, Hayes Valley Farm is having it's next Work Party from 12-4. Volunteer Orientation is at 12:30 followed by a Work Party at 1pm. If you're gone past the old Central Freeway on and off ramps between Fell and Oak, Laguna and Octavia, you might be curious what's going on. Stop in this Sunday afternoon. If anyone who wants to visit the site, Welcome to HVF Tours will run from 2-4pm.
