Hi everyone, I just wanted to check in and see if anyone else had a rent increase this year? I had no alert either, they said I should have gotten a letter but I never got anything. Best, Natasha

I also didn't receive any notification of an increase and saw one added to my account. They also charged me for not having rental insurance (which I have never let lapse). The office has also stopped responding to any emails I've sent over the past few months re: washer/dryer cards, pest control, and now this. DC law requires 60 days notice of any rent increase in a rent controlled building.

I also received a rent increase with no notice, but I was expecting this as I signed my lease last year with a special rate (1 month free with a 13 month lease). I don't know if you're in the same position, but I just wanted to suggest this as a potential cause.

For those of you that got rent increases without the proper 60 day notice in the mail, were you able to successfully fight this? Did you contact CIM and have them change your rate back?

@Emma: I had the same offer, but in early 2025 I received the notice alright, 60 days before renewal (paper letter, standard mail)

@Sara: regarding the charge for not having renter's insurance, it also happened to me in early 2025. I challenged it: sent them an email, attaching the renewed policy, which was renewed before they charged me the 50US$. They removed the charge.

I hope this helps
