I’ve been charged twice now for not having rental insurance despite sending it in several different ways, and it seems like my emails to building management aren’t going anywhere and the phone numbers on the website don’t actually connect to anything. Does anyone have a direct poc for CIM group?

I’ve had the same issue, with no response. Adding myself in here in case anyone knows how to reach  someone.

Hi, their office is in the apartment building next to us, Harvard village. your fob should have access to the entrance to the leasing office. You can talk to them in person, might be the best option. I found that they are terrible with replying to emails as of late.

On a similar topic, for those whose lease was about to end, did the leasing office ever mail you anything physically or contact you in any way 60 days before your lease expired about a rent increase, or any lease agreement for that matter? I'm about 40 days out from my lease ending and I heard absolutely nothing from their end about a renewal or any rent increase. It's pretty frustrating.

Hi Ky,

When your initial lease ends, it will automatically just go month to month.  The rent increase notices should come in the mail at least 60 days before the rent increase (although people have been complaining that hasn't been the case).  Several years ago when my initial lease ended, i did not see an immediate rent increase, it took several months for the notice to come in the mail and the increased rate to go into effect. For those few months in between my rent amount was the same as it was under the initial lease agreement.

There is more information here about how the rent increase should happen : https://dhcd.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dhcd/publication/attachments/RentControlFactSheet.pdf

It looks like it's not legally enforceable for them to raise your rent without this 60 day notice from DHCD, but I'm not sure if any tenants have tried to fight this.

Hi folks,

Picking up the phone and calling is the best option, 202-846-8372 (per the PE external website). 202-540-9367 (per Google). Additionally, Sabrina Burn's contact information is below.

If you call and tell them, they will take the $50 charge(s) off. If you moved in last year and the rental insurance has expired/was renewed, they'll need an updated copy of the rental insurance.

Also the leasing office is no longer next door after Harvard Village was recently sold. They had a small window after still on the premises to aid in the transition.

Hope this helps,

Clay

sorry for the misinformation! I didn't know the building was sold.

Update: calls kept getting dropped from all the numbers so I sent another message in the portal saying I’ll be contacting the OTA. Got a response immediately. So I guess that’s the winning strategy.

I asked Sabrina if she had an updated number for future reference because the ones on the website don’t work and here was her response in case that’s helpful for anyone going fwd:

Should you need to contact me via phone the best number to reach me is (202)964-2856; I am typically at this property Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Unfortunately, we cannot update the website with this phone number as it is a different property, and the current management team will more than likely not be managing the property by the end of the month.
