A couple of small points, while our last game is fresh in my mind.

We put the mine counters on the map at the start of the game, so that
we didn't forget to add them when we laid tiles. This worked
well. If other groups adopt it, you might consider adding it to the
setup section.

The game includes a lot of green plain track tiles. In our two
games, we've hardly used any. Do you keep a record of while tiles
are used in each game? I reckon you could discard one of each type
and possibly some of the more esoteric types (17, 18, 21, 22)
altogether. This would make it easier to find tiles during play as
well as reducing production costs.

Dave.

I don't recall using 17/18/22 much, but 20 gets used in just about all
our games. We also have run out of 7 (plain tight curve) in more than
one game. We used a flipped tile as a substitute until one opened up.

The limited supply of tile 7 has always confused me in 1861.  Nearly every game, we have to make a substitute because tile 7 is unlimited by rule but very few (2?) were provided in the tile mix.  Hopefully when 1812 is produced, more will be included.

I don't recall ever having a shortage of #7 in an 1861 - I suspect there's some group-think going on. (During playtesting the main problem was a shortage of #9, hence the over-supply in the final version.) It's a bit early to say about 1812, I'll try to include another #7 in a later version if possible.

So far, amoungst green tiles, I haven't seen #17,21,22,26,27,28 nor 31 used yet. There was a #18 used recently in a PBEM game I'm running at the moment (along with both #29's). Certainly most of these could be reduced. I have to be careful, because the green phase lasts longer than others and there is a scarcity of brown track.

We used a 26 last week.  This connected Selby, Newark and Doncaster and was an attempt at a spoiler to deny easy routes out of Derby.
