Doris and I went to The Bureau on 16th Street last night and spoke, first with Marvin the bartender, then with Kenny the owner, who was open to us having a singles event there on Saturday, February 14. They can set up a buffet table for food that we would have delivered.

Questions:

1. Am I correct in assuming that this would be a cash bar?

2. Do we want exclusive use of the space and are we willing to pay a fee for that?

3. When would it start and end?

4. Do we want it catered by Nuevo Leon or someplace else? Kenny also owns The Velvet Lounge next to Brandi’s Pizza on 22nd Street, although he has no business connection with Brandi’s.

All of the plural pronouns above (we, our) should be changed to you, since I’m not single (happily so).

How wonderful!  Thanks for doing the leg work on that!  I don't have time for a more detailed response, but will try to do so later today.

Valentine’s Day is two weeks from today. Although I made the initial inquiry about the availability of The Bureau that Saturday evening, I lack direction on what to do next.

Hi Guy -

If we can pull this off in the next 2 weeks, I'd say let's go for it!

1.  My assumption would be that it would have to be a cash bar?  Unless, is there some way that we could entice people by saying that they have one free drink with invitation?  Not sure how that would be paid for?

2. Not sure if we necessarily  need the bar exclusively.  It is quite small but with this close to the event, I think we would be okay to keep it open to the public. We would just need to be cognizant of those entering and introduce ourselves and ask if they were there for the event.

3. Would a 7pm-10pm event time be good?

4. Catered food would be great.  Could be as simple as pizza, but I think it would be good, especially since people will  be drinking.  I"m totally open to the Nuevo Leon idea as well.

Other thoughts, would be some sort of game, maybe?  I haven't thought that one through yet, but maybe something to really get people to interact with each other?

Should we get together briefly to discuss?

We're getting close. Let me know if you decide to meet.

Do you think we should post this on doorwaze, ask for RSVPs by a certain date? I know, we need more details. Meet or email?

Unfortunately, this week I am not free to meet, so I vote e-mail correspondence unless you guys want to meet and then send me the details.

We have to decide if we truly want to do this. If so, then we have some details we need to work out, especially since we will need to post this asap.  I'm willing to help, just honestly don't want to be scrambling last minute to try and make this event happen - takes the fun out of planning it.

I stopped by Bureau Bar and later reached Kenny Johnson. There is another event there from 6-9pm for perhaps 20 people. Given that, the short time remaining, and my limited availability this week, I propose we consider a later date for this event.

For open bar (beer and wine) the price per head would be ~$20 per person per hour. The association could provide food as Guy mentioned previously.

Happy to help organize any future events. I agree that given the timing and how much everyone had going on this week we should plan something at a later date, maybe a St. Patrick's Day event? Maybe we can do it at the Bureau Bar, send an invite stating it'll be $20/person and provide wristbands to attendees so the bar knows who is with our group (open bar)...? Just a thought.
Looking forward to brainstorming and working with everyone!
