Social Committee – February 16, 2016 Meeting

Great meeting yesterday, it was so great catching up with everyone!

 

Just to recap our meeting:

 

Tried and true events:

Progressive Dinner (looking to hopefully do this on either 4/1 or 4/15)

Tailgate Party 2016

 

Tried, low participation:

Bowling - Maybe worth revisiting in the Fall?

Kroll Events

Trivia Night – Wednesday Nights

Neighborhood Night – Tuesday Nights

 

New Events to try:

Tasting in the Lobby*

- On a Thursday in March

- Chris will talk to South Loop Market about sponsoring food and drink

- Doris and Guy will find out about entertainment

- Spoke to Holly, said we need to ask the Board permission for an exception to the Rule of serving alcohol in common areas 

 

Dive Bar Crawl?

- Pilsen?

- South Loop?

 

Art Tour – Pilsen

 

 

We agreed for the next meeting to occur on 2/22 at 7pm, Vanessa Sosa in unit 1802 will host.

* Since we need to request the Board’s permission for the tasting (which we’re hoping to make happen in March), should we push our next meeting to happen after the Board Meeting? Maybe March 1^st, since the next Board meeting is on 2/29, thoughts?

Sometimes people are just new to the neighborhood or city and just need an outlet to meet people, which doesn’t always have to be sponsored, just brought together. So I was suggesting with all the free events in Grant Park and the Women’s Park, maybe we can use these to plan something where neighbors meet up, but promote it as “bring your blankets, chairs, snacks and look for the 1720 sign/balloon/ pennant (we can figure out the identifier later) – come have some fun and get to know your neighbors!” Thoughts?

 

Please feel free to send suggestions/ideas for other fun events we can organize!

I like the idea of meeting in the parks. Maybe another Shakespeare in Park, that was fun.
