Lost love

So, you suffer twice

in love, you pay this price

you cry once, you are hurt

and cry harder, since love, too, is hurt

you sulk into a corner, behind the door

you sigh once, you sigh more...

until love longs to resolve the fight

with better promises, cuddles you tight

So, you swallow pride

in love, bitterness you hide

you smile a little to break the ice

smile a little less, since love, too, rolls the dice

you stare addled at the closed door

you sigh again and you sigh more...

then you give in to the painful crevices

assuage love with flattering kisses

So, you learn to detach

in love, you run out of thread and patch

numb you are, you feel nothing

paralyzed you are, since love, too, reacts nothing

you embrace yourself and lock the door

you sigh less, you sigh no more...

no one tries, no one finds the key

bittersweet rivulets lost into the vastness of sea.
