Homeless Heart

My heart a violent sky holds its breath-

Pregnant with memories

Like that suitcase you never lose

My heart’s reflection in the mirror is shattered glass

Trampled underfoot

Raindrops cold as ice

Salty tears on my tongue

A fire explodes in my belly

Coils of rage and hurt like a noose winding tighter

My pulse is a speeding car

This heart always chasing love

But never facing love

Homeless

Desperate for a home

But finds no vacancies

Out in the cold
