I am almost broken
But not quite
In my soul is a cranny
Where hope intact remains
-a lone brick holding
this cracked wall together.
defeat is bitter
an unpalatable fruit
but you have shoved it
down my throat
yet
hope glimmers still
-a lone brick holding
this damaged house together.
weariness drags me by my coils
sassiness flees leaving me
malleable
in your beautiful hands.
my victory is my defeat
though the eye leaks,
though the nose is on a marathon
my victory is my defeat.
thoughts can cease
and words can fail
obsession might faint,
and loneliness’s cold hand
i might have for support
but
my victory is my defeat.
one day at a time,
my victory is my defeat.
