Ken,

Trying to wrap my vacation brain around all this. I’m not sure, but I don’t think we have anchors. Lauren Lima can confirm. But I’m assuming this means you will need to hang staging everywhere, that every exterior wall will need to be touched. Also, this includes checking the Hardy Board. Am I right? A minor thing, but some bird cages are missing, and we should have them looked while we’ve got guys up there.

On the PODs, totally fine with whatever terms you need. Just send me a schematic of it so I can see what you mean by it. All I have at the moment is the PDF from Criterium of their brick assessment.

Your list below though makes sense. Just double-checking I understand.

Section A and B: Those are the painted sections in the back and courtyard, and they are estimates of areas that will need to be brushed, pointed, and patched?

I believe you’re talking about the “paint” that isn’t paint but some sort of cover that unifies the look. Can you remind me of the name of it?

Finally, the scary question is, is this a lot more $ than we were planning on? Just trying to prepare everyone. Surprises aren’t fun.

Otherwise, I hope your week as nurse in residence is okay, and thanks for doing all this.

Amy

Below is a draft scope of work that was discussed prior between and you and I and now with project and engineer. I’m happy to discuss with you if needed but believe I’ve completely changed the scope to what we discussed. With the paint not being removed easily and not truly needed in all areas this is the best outcome for the service request. Of course, I used the POD A B C metric will you loved so much. This will allow apples to apples bids to be provided. One item that I inquired on was an anchor system on the roof for swing staging connections, to the best of my knowledge this was not part of the roofing plans. If there are no anchors to connect to staging will be needed to be complete the service.

Section A: 30% of the painted elevations. Areas of peeling paint and compromised paint will be wire brushed and brick/pointing repaired. The full elevation will be painted for a consistent finish.
Section B: 18% of the painted elevations. Areas of peeling paint and compromised paint will be wire brushed and brick/pointing repaired. The areas will be painted for water proofing.
Section C: 10% of the elevations. Brick repointed as required. All stonework painted.
Section D: 7 lintels repaired.

Please review and reply with any questions, edits, and feedback.

More to come as I need to provide the material for the stonework discussed to bring back that courtyard to regal status that has black mildew and mold.

Have a great holiday! I’m traveling next week to assist a family member who is having surgery and won’t be available only for emergencies.

The ball is still in motion.

No problem. I’m back in town for 5 days the week of September 8th. By then you might already have quotes. The Tammscoat looks good. Does it go on Hardy Board too? I noticed the new brick isn’t included in pointing. Wondering why. Meantime if you get a break or need a break give me a call next week, otherwise I’ll wait till you’re back in the saddle.
