Theekshna
The pulse of combat, the rhythm of vigor, melody of the weapon form the soul of this ancient martial art form,
Kalaripayattu? Watch while Kalari flows through the instrument of the human body creating an explosion of harmony. Complimented by the invigorating playing of the live drums, this piece is a passionate duel of danger and grace. The weapons move with grace in the hands of the artists only to be executed brilliantly and to prove that the human body is par comparison to any fierce weaponry.
The disciples of Kalari Academy and PKB Kalari sangam unite their creativity and talent to bring together this extravagant
piece. Direction by Ranjan Mullaratt, Artistic director of Kalari Academy of Performing Arts.

Tukkam ? suspendre ?
An acrobatic venture with a play of suspension, gravity, might and elegance. The techniques of moving and hanging on a cloth or a rope are not only astonishing, but also form the inimitable meeting point for the artists who dare to go beyond the frontiers of risk. Sustaining the aggressiveness of Kalari in their fights, they mingle with the empty space while
poised away from ground. Three men challenge the emptiness with a crawling dance, on a musical composition inspired by Dhrupad singing and undulating music.
Tukkam is a creation by Michel Lestr騡n for his France based dance company Compagnie Prana that premiered for the Montpellier festival in France and the
music for the piece is composed by Eric Kramer. Tukkam premiers for the first time in India with Sammilan.
