SATYAJIT RAY WORKSHOP AT IIFA WEEKENDThis event will focus on the work of the legendary Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray as part of the IIFA Yorkshire Weekend from 7-10 June 2007.The Workshop will take place at 11:30am on 8 June at the National Media Museum, Bradford. It will give practitioners and amateurs alike an opportunity to interact with icons of the film industry and come together to discuss international cinema. The event will be chaired by actress Jaya Bachchan along with panellists including Bengali film director Rituparno Ghosh.
Satyajit Ray is known for his humanistic approach to cinema. In 1978, the organizing committee of the Berlin Film Festival ranked him as one of the three all-time best directors. In 1992, Satyajit Ray received the honorary Academy Award ©A.M.P.A.S. ® - Lifetime Achievement in recognition of his rare mastery of the art of motion pictures and for his profound humanitarian outlook, which has had an indelible influence on filmmakers and audiences throughout the world.
