SLC Free 2 Please offer some advice - please!

I have SLC Free 2 with new LSU4.9 sensor. The sensor is about 20 inches from three exhaust ports on a 3 branch manifold. The display continuously cycles from min. temp. to max. temp and from min. lambda to max. lambda. Each cycle takes between 5 and 10 seconds. I initially thought the sensor might not be hot enough so I wrapped the manifold, but it has made no difference. Please, any advice would be appreciated. Is the sensor still too cold? Should I try a new sensor? Is the SLC 2 fried? Do these symptoms point towards any other kind of installation problem? Any help would be much appreciated as I have had NO feedback whatsoever as yet.
