Having issues with my SLC wbo2. Triple checked wiring for power/ground and o2 sensor wiring, soldered, desoldered and resoldered pinheaded connectors between both circuit boards. Everything is wired and soldered perfectly. O2 goes through heating cycle but display doesn’t show anything. Just lights up and shows 16 rectangles. Is this a fault with circuit board or does it need firmware flashed on?

I'm experiencing the same issue with mine. I too have checked my wiring diagram thoroughly and all should be well there.

Only 16 segments in top line? Is there something in bottom one?
It should be 8 segments in bottom when o2 is in optimal temperature range.
If so, full top line means lean mixture. It is typical on free air.
To check if it works, I used CO2 from a welding machine. If you don't have one, maybe some baking soda + vinegal will help, just be sure water drops will not get to the sensor. It should remove oxygen from cell and readouts should get lower, showing rich mixture. It will take about 5-10 sec to replace air in sensor cell with CO2, after this time readouts must change.

If you expected digits instead of bargraphs... So do I, but for some reason free firmware goes with bargraphs.

One of mine displays the lambda and temp. The other is just full blocks across the top. I don't see how that would be useful to anyone.

Same issue for me. Received 2 SLC Free 2 one month ago.
I tried one board with O2 attached on free air, another one without O2.

Both are same, they display only 16 rectangles. Wrong firmware ?

And one of both LCD have wrong contrast. But it's a small problem.

Upon doing more research, I noticed that I mistakenly mixed up the black and blue wires in my loom and switched Molex pins 1 and 3 on the O2 sensor harness. I'm not sure what each does, or if that's the cause of my issue. The controllers failed in different ways, so I guess it's still to be decided.

Pin 1 of LSU 4.9 is Vs and pin 3 is h+. Both are voltage supplies but I’m unsure of what range either/or operates at. I think pin 1 would have to be 5v ref and perhaps pin 3 is 12v since it’s supplying the heating element of the sensor. I’ll check the SLC Free 2 circuit board schematic.

Sorry, misread that. That’s pin 1 and 3 of the connector for the sensor itself. 1 and 3 of Molex. Molex pin 1 goes to pin 3 of o2 sensor h+ and pin 3 leads to pin 5 to o2 sensor which is vs/ip (voltage supply pump circuit).

14point7 confirmed a programming problem.

I have the exact same problem. Single row of 16 blocks that remain static. My unit just arrived along with the manufacturers harness ans LSU 4.9 so not a wiring issue for me. Nicko Pok what have they done to sort out your programming problem?

Thanks Nicko, I have written to Alan and described my problem.

About a month ago, I had sent out a batch of SLC Free 2 units that was not programmed with the right firmware. Anyone who has the 16 boxes on the LCD who purchased SLC Free 2 recently, please contact me via email and I will send out a replacement kit.

Received my replacement unit about a week ago. Will try to assemble and test it this weekend. Thanks Alan!

I have similar problems with my SLC free. Is it possible to flash right firmware to the controller?

I have built 3 and none show any movement. Tried vinegar & soda, and butane from lighter (saw it on a slc youtube vid). no movement at all. stuck on:
Lambda=1.01
Temperature=820C

Sent Alan To an email asking for cost of a 'license' for the fw with digits, and he gave it to me for free.
Not sure if would want me to circulating it.

Trying to bench test it with a 12v 20a PSU and putting the inline 5a fuse as directed, with an additional -ve to wb casing.
JP1 pins
1 = 12v +ve
2 & 3 = 12v -ve
4 & 5 = NC

JP2 pins to LSU connector's pin assignment
1 = 4
2 = 3
3 = 5
4 = 1
5 = 2
6 = 6

Kept lambda cable & connector complete.

At a loss as to what to do now.

Same problem here and no respond to emails. I got 17.25 usd refund without explanation.

I imagine you either bought it from 14point7 complete, or as a kit? I sourced all parts independantly, but having issues with bench testing, not sure if it is the FW, as Alan kindly sent me the 'full' version (with words), but then i've noticed there has been some issues lately with the FW.

Has anyone else built there own, and it worked? If so could I have the FW you used to test my setup.

Also any hints/tips on bench testing the setup before installation....

Thanks
Leo

oh, forgot to mention: I have the Cypress MiniProg to program the chips, just need the file to test if mine is bad.

It was complete SLC Free 2 B. I solder just molex connectors and 16 pin headers for LCD. Ordered 20.5.2019

My replacement controller arrived and it works perfectly. (I had the 16 blank blocks, no firmware  controller that was shipped in error) Thanks Alan.

I'm glad to hear that, you were lucky. My problem (same as yours) was never solved or explained.

Hi, I soldered the wires for a "SLC Free 2B" I bought last year. and did not need until now. Only rectangles in the first row. Is there anything we I can do about it? Re-program it or the like? The older 14point7 unit I bought years ago still works perfectly.

*Alan if you have a replacement for my SLC you want to sent, I want to order something else anyway, so no extra postage cost for you to Germany. Made a video, so you can see the parts are unused, brand new out of box.*

By the way, before I recognized 14point7, I bought all kind of expensive INNOVATE stuff. So far 8 out of 10 innovate products failed, some part (LMA-3) never worked and where sent around 5 times, but still did not work (fault in construction or firmware was admitted, but never fixed, useless hardware left with the customer, no refund). Some where fixed by me, as the support did not repair anything. Something between low and no quality.

So IMO Allan´s stuff is much better quality!
