Subject: KaleiDOscope 2013 - SAME LENS; A SPECTRUM OF PERSEPCTIVES

Dear Year 5 CCE Reps,

This is a publicity email on behalf of NUS Student Union Volunteer Action Committee (NVAC), a wholly student-driven volunteer organisation under the umbrella of the National University of Singapore.

This year, NVAC is proud to present to present to you KaleiDOscope 2013 - SAME LENS; A SPECTRUM OF PERSEPCTIVES, which aims to promote volunteerism as a way of life among youths. Through the activities, the hope is to raise awareness of the many volunteering opportunities available, and help the participants to see the potential of their contributions. Finally, by guiding them to reflect on their personal volunteer experiences and also to explore their motivations for volunteering, we hope to encourage the participants to find an area of interest and continue volunteering even as they graduate from pre-university education. It would be held on 22nd June 2013.

The station games comprise of activities which allow participants to understand the needs of different segments of the community (eg. elderly, physically-disabled), find out the kinds of volunteer activities that are currently taking place, as well as provide insights to how they can contribute as volunteers themselves.

The small group sharing sessions will give students a chance to share and reflect on their volunteer experiences while also engaging them in volunteering-related discussion topics at the same time. Finally, the balloon sculpture workshop aims to equip them with a useful skill which might be useful in their future volunteering activities and students will get to make balloon sculptures and write messages of encouragement for selected children beneficiaries.

While we find this a meaningful and interesting seminar, and highly encourage you to attend, we would like to make it clear here that no CIP hours will be awarded from participating in KaleiDOscope 2013. This session is more for you to get started, should you be interested in initiating or sourcing a service project J

Thanks and have a good week ahead!

Regards,
