As mentioned in my last email, here is a publicity email on the STep-Up programme for next year which I will require you to forward this to your classmates again.
STep-Up is a structured weekly tutoring programme designed by Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund to help their Primary 5-6 beneficiaries with English to prepare them
for PSLE. Our school had taken part in it last year as a pilot run and feedback has been good for both your seniors and the primary school students. We are looking at sustaining this engagement for the third year running in 2014.
We understand that Year 6 will be a hectic period for you, but we find it necessary to start the programme earlier to engage our beneficiaries before the new batch of
Year 5 coaches come on board next year, so your help would be very useful in bridging this gap before handing over to the new coaches. To strike a balance between managing your workload and catering to the children's needs, this period of engagement will be
a short one, lasting for three to four weeks, and you would have stepped down before your first GP Common Test next year. Here are the venues and timings:
Venue1:
Pertapis Children's Home: 993B Kovan Road (off Yio Chu Kang Road)
Every
Friday from
21st Feb 2014 onwards (excluding school holidays),
till 7th Mar, towards end of Term 1
Time:
5.30pm -- 7pm
Venue2:
Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre: Blk 109, Ang Mo Kio Ave 4, #01-04 (PAP Education Centre)
Every
Tuesday from
18th Feb 2014 onwards (excluding school holidays),
till 4th Mar, towards end of Term 1
Time:
7.30pm -- 9pm
CIP hours will be awarded.
There should be one final email from me for the year, publicizing about a flag day on 4th Jan 2014. I should send it over by the end of this week.
Thanks and hope you will consider helping out in this!

Dear Year 5 CCE Reps,
Hope this email finds you well after OP! Here’s re-publicizing the KidsREAD programme for next year Term 1, which some of your peers have kindly served till today (last session for the year).
We will be recruiting more volunteers for next year, details are similar to my previous email below, on Saturdays afternoons (tentatively 1-2pm) in Term 1 next year. This will be a short engagement, ending by
Week 8 or 9 before your first Common Test next year.
Kindly sign up at www.tinyurl.com/RI-Jan-2014 by next Fri 15 Nov, 1pm. Current volunteers who are interested in continuing your
service, please sign up through this link again too, this is because we would like to confirm if you are keen as well.
I will send another email, probably after next weekend to publicise about STep-Up in Term 1 2014 as well, so do expect another email from me.
Thanks and meanwhile have a good weekend ahead!

Dear Year 5 CCE Reps,
Hope this email finds you well. Can I trouble you to publicise the following KidsREAD Programme to your classmates? Thanks! There will be more flag day opportunities coming up in Term 3, I will send you more details by end of May. Another
thing is, for the “stand-in CCE reps”, if there is already a confirmed CCE Rep, please update me so that I can stop spamming you. Meanwhile thanks for your help!
The kidsREAD is a national reading programme that reaches out to children between the ages of 4 and 8 years (nursery - P2) who come from low-income families.
This programme aims to
a) to leverage on the strengths of various partners to develop and manage a sustainable reading programme for children from the age of 4 to 8 in Singapore;
b) to inculcate the love and interest in reading and cultivate good reading habits among young Singaporeans, particularly children from low-income families;
c) to provide equitable access to knowledge via literature for children from low-income families, thereby enriching their lives and enhancing opportunities for future success;
d) to strengthen social cohesion and enhance racial harmony by providing an avenue for children from various races to interact at an early age.
Teck Ghee Community Club Management Committee welcomes you to embark on this reading programme for the needy students residing within the Teck Ghee Constituency (Ang Mo Kio region). We hope to recruit about
10 volunteers to help conduct the reading sessions. NLB will provide the necessary resources and training for the students volunteers, most likely during the June holidays.
The tentative plans/details are as follows:
Duration of engagement: at least the whole of Term 3 this year, on a
weekly basis
Time: Every Saturday from 1pm-2pm, starting from
Term 3
Venue: Teck Ghee Community Club
Please sign up by
16 May, 5pm at
www.tinyurl.com/RI-July-2013 if you are interested. Kindly note that the signup link will close prematurely if there are enough signups. More information will be given subsequently, if the numbers are confirmed. CIP hours will be awarded.
Thanks and have a good evening!
