Dear students,
Greetings! The following are the guidelines and dates for the submission of the synopsis and thesis report .
Synopsis Submission:
The synopsis should consist of the following:
• Cover Page & Title Page (As per the format followed on review report- Refer Appendix A of the review report guidelines)
• Introduction : Max. one page
• Brief literature survey: Max. one page
• Problem statement
• Method of approach
• Mathematical modeling, if applicable.
• Important results and discussion
• Conclusions
No. of pages: 5-10.
Please note that the above mentioned topics do not reflect the heading of the chapter. Synopsis does not contain any chapter numbers. They reflect the content only.
Page Dimensions & Page Specification:
Left Margin: 1.5 inch
Right Margin: 1 inch
Top Margin: 1 inch
Bottom Margin: 1 inch
Page numbers – All the pages should be numbered using Arabic numerals at the bottom center of the pages.
Font
Times New Roman 12pt font should be used consistently throughout the text. Captions for tables and figures can be in smaller fonts, but not smaller than 10pt.
Paragraphs
No paragraph should have its opening line at the bottom of a page. A clear, consistent, but not too large a separation must be provided between the paragraphs throughout the report / thesis.
Headings
Section Heading – Font Size: 14, Times
New Roman, CAPS
Subsection Heading – Font Size: 12, Times New Roman, CAPS
Line spacing
The line spacing used should be one and a half and should be the same throughout the text. The lines in captions for figures and tables, Table of Contents, List of Figures, and List of Tables
can be single spaced.
Last date of submission of synopsis (both hard & soft copies) : on or before 8th May 2013.
Last date of submission of thesis (Hard copy & Softcopy in a CD): on or before15th May 2013
Instructions:
All the students are required to strictly follow the review report guidelines while preparing/submitting the work as a synopsis or thesis. Otherwise the synopsis or
thesis will be rejected.
The students are advised to strictly follow the deadlines. No extension will be given under any circumstances.
The students are requested to send the softcopy of the synopsis to their internal guide(s) and request him/her/them to forward it (pdf format) to the program manager (email: vgsr...@vit.ac.in & Cc to spar...@vit.ac.in) on or before the deadline. The file name should be in the form of “11MMF00XX”. Otherwise, the synopsis will not be
accepted. Hence, it is the responsibility of the students to make sure that everything is as per the instructions.
It is the students’ responsibility to make sure that the synopsis has been sent to program chair before the deadline.
The students are advised to submit the draft copy of the synopsis or thesis to the guide(s) for correction atleast ten days before the deadline so that the guide(s)
may have enough time to go through the report and provide useful suggestions.
Students are advised not to submit the documents to the guide(s) at the last minute for correction
