75 people are reported dead up to now, after a strong quake hit offshore
Padang city, Sumatra, Indonesia.
See below the first report from Island-Aid.
It was 05am local time so many people may be trapped in their homes as they
were caught off guard in their beds.

Situation unknown on Nias, Telos and nearby Mentawai islands.

PLEASE REPORT DAMAGES AND NEEDS OF ASSISTANCE, if any.
Volunteers for assistance + Search and Rescue please report your assets.

A 7.9 quake has hit Padang and surroundings. No tsunami. Serious damage in
Padang.
Many trapped in buildings and fires everywhere.
We are fine and at our house. Phones are not working well but we can be
reached on Skype "elmaceh".

Many hundreds are killed or trapped in collapsed buildings. We need doctors
and medical supplies URGENT.
Please call anyone who can help.

Reports say 200 trapped in Ambacang Hotel.
Some are believed to be surfers. We appeal to all boat owners to send
us a list of passenger names and nationalities to forward to
respective embassies, or to contact the embassies direct if that is
possible. A lot of Aussies are listed missing but we believe that they
are on boats and perfectly safe. Please help.
