From: Island Aid - http://islandaid.groupsite.com/

A 0.6m tsunami hit Padang beaches about 12 minutes after a 7.0 (USGS) quake
struck mid way between Siberut Island and the city. The quake was preceded
by a
loud growling sound then followed by a strong vertical vibration coupled
with a
slow horizontal shake. An evacuation warning was issued by the city
administration. Island Aid HQ shook hard but there was no damage. Power and
phone services were not disrupted and the evacuation of coastal areas
appeared
to be orderly and smooth in the southern part of the city.

Aftershocks continue to keep the population on edge but we can see vehicles
returning to Air Manis village below us now that the tsunami danger is
past.
