Hello 10K Ways crew!
This year is looking pretty good for us and I hope it is for all of you as well!
Bill, the kids and I will be staying with my Dad and his new wife in their home in Jacksonville before and after 10k Ways this year. It will be nice to have a "home base" near the camp.
The kids are 9,7 and 3 now. Logan is talking up a storm and is a very funny little dude. The girls are looking forward to camping up there a lot and seeing everyone again. Erin especially remembers the events ( she went two years, the rest of us only once) and loves outdoorsy activities. We're going to be headed to the beach a lot this summer with my little Californian children.
I'm starting to think about kids activities for the 10K weekend. I wonder if we could do an Open Source track for the kids? People can bring their plans and activities for kids and then keep the format of adult oriented discussions. And some might mix age groups too. My kids ( and Bill) use the games Charlie taught them two years ago and teach them to others in their circles. The kids had a great time and those sorts of activities will also bust out around camp.
My suspicion is that we we'll see people want to do youth oriented sessions as part of the "program." And if we have some up-front stated interest, then we can use it as a tool to attract some more families.
Right now, I'm trying to look at the kids' experience of the event and trying to design a fun weekend for them. But I'm also hoping to have some interesting sessions and discussions this year with adult humans separately from my wonderful children, which is why I feel motivated to see what energy we would have for activities that are directed towards or include kids.
Thoughts?
