My dad owns a house in Jacksonville that he rents out. Bummer that.
Anyway......
He says the camp is nice and very pretty and to bring water. Not the best in terms of accomodations with bathrooms and showers and what not. So, depending on the intention, that could be just fine.
Planning ahead will help.
We're outta here for the weekend. We are going to Texas! Whoot.
I'm sorry I haven't been interactive with the group so far. I've only
been briefly checking in as I've been both job and apartment hunting.
I just wanted to shoot this out before I final decision has been made
about the campsite. I have asked some of my friends in the Ashland
area about campgrounds and more than one has mentioned Hyatt Lake. I
don't know if this has been reviewed already, but it's about 20
miles(?) east of Ashland further in the mountains towards Klamath
Falls. So, I'm told. Anyway, now that I am in Ashland again (and for
good, this time!) I can make a trip to check out any perspective site,
take pictures, whatnot...
Also, it does not look like I will be able to spend much time with the
group this year because of work concerns. I most likely only be able
to stop by once or twice, and not stay the night more than (maybe)
once. However, I will likely be bring some eager new recruits from
the area.
Anyway, I know this might be a little too late to be of much help, but
I thought I would offer, nonetheless.
Take care, everyone!

PS. I tried to send this yesterday and my computer crashed.
Hyatt Lake... back in "the day" my Dad and Step Mom were part of an annual group that helped to create the "rustic" side of Hyatt. It has limited ammenities, but there's resources across the lake. If you understand how to canoe, you can make it across the lake, but you can also end up in weird places doing that.
Now the Rustic Side is called Wild Cat point or Peak I think. It has outhouses and maybe water.
It would be worth looking into, but we may just have to throw down and commit to the Beaver site.
We're off to Texas for the weekend. Dad's getting married. Whoot. I am trying to keep Bill from making bad jokes in the airport.
Glad to hear from you! Could you do me the singular favor of getting
some solid info on how Hyatt Lake is now? (prices, amenities,
reservations, etc.?) I'd love to have that information for next year.
Beyond that, I hope your time does resolve itself wonderfully so we can
see you when we come up!
Best to you & yours,
Bill Maxwell
