Innovation of the Month: SOAR

Nationally, only about 37% of those who apply for SSI/SSDI benefits
are approved on their initial applications. For applicants who are
homeless, the number even lower, at 10 – 15%. In this month’s featured
innovation, learn how the SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery
program (SOAR) has helped 34 communities bump the success rate to an
average of 71%, helping vulnerable individuals access benefits that
are often the first step to recovery and housing.

In this 30-minute recording, Kristin Lupfer, Senior Project Associate
for the SOAR Technical Assistance Center, explains everything you need
to know about the SOAR program. You’ll also get a sneak peek at a
successful local example from Bernie Juno, Executive Director of
