[project] Is anyone considering a study of the bitcoin network?

I haven't chosen a project yet, and I was curious whether anyone was planning to study the bitcoin digital currency network; the database of all transactions is completely public and continuously updating in real-time, so there's a rich data-set. The floating BTC-USD exchange rate reacts to news similar to any other tradable currency, although there is no central authority and the value is deflationary rather than inflationary like all fiat currencies.
