Role: Cloud Architect (DNS with inflobox experience)

Duration: Long Term Contract

Location: Phoenix, AZ/Walnut Creek, CA(3 Days/Week from office)

Note: Final interview will be F2F in client office.

Role Overview

We are seeking a high‑impact Senior Cloud Engineer/Architect to provide architectural leadership, hands‑on engineering, and operational excellence across Client’s AWS cloud platform and on‑prem datacenter environments.

In this role, you will architect, build, and operate Client’s mission‑critical hybrid infrastructure, integrating modern AWS cloud platforms with on‑premises technologies. Your responsibilities span compute, storage, virtualization, automation, security, monitoring, and lifecycle management, all essential to Client’s global logistics and transportation ecosystem.

You will design and integrate technologies including VMware vSphere/vSAN, Nutanix, Cisco UCS/HX, and storage/backup systems with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS, and Lambda. This role requires the ability to independently own either cloud or datacenter domains end‑to‑end while leading modernization efforts and implementing automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Puppet, along with CI/CD pipelines and scripting.

You will partner cross‑functionally with cloud, security, networking, and application engineering teams to ensure reliability, performance, and operational resilience across Client’s hybrid ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloud Architecture, Engineering & Operations (AWS)

  • Design and integrate on‑prem datacenter with AWS cloud services to deliver a unified, secure hybrid environment.
  • Architect, build, and operate AWS environments across multiple accounts and regions.
  • Engineer solutions using EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, ECS/EKS, and Lambda.
  • Design and operate containerized workloads using Amazon ECS/EKS, including cluster configuration, image lifecycle, scaling, and workload integration.
  • Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code automation patterns using Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins; integrate pipelines with IaC workflows.
  • Implement monitoring and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and logging frameworks.
  • Lead cloud network integration: DNS, DHCP, routing, and cross‑region/multi‑VPC design.

3. Automation, DevOps & Infrastructure as Code

  • Develop, maintain, and scale Terraform modules for cloud and datacenter deployments.
  • Implement configuration and automation using Puppet, Ansible, and scripting (Python/PowerShell/Bash).
  • Build fully automated release, patching, lifecycle, and monitoring pipelines.
  • Reduce operational overhead by standardizing environments and enabling self‑service provisioning.

4. Operations, Monitoring & Reliability Engineering

  • Provide senior‑level oversight for 24x7 operations, including incident, problem, and change management.
  • Own monitoring systems such as Nagios, Prometheus, and Grafana across both cloud and datacenter footprints.
  • Maintain DR playbooks, manage failover readiness, and test DR scenarios, including datacenter failover testing.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, architectural documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and lifecycle roadmaps.

5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with security, networking, DevOps, engineering, and application teams to deliver cohesive infrastructure services.
  • Work with vendors and external partners on architecture reviews, technology evaluations, and support contracts.
  • Mentor junior engineers; drive engineering governance, standards, governance, and technical best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree (preferred) in computer science, information systems, or other discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience with both data center and AWS cloud environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere/vSAN, ESXi, vCenter, Windows Server administration, Linux systems administration (RHEL/Ubuntu preferred), enterprise compute/storage, and backup solutions, Linux administration experience (RHEL/Ubuntu preferred).
  • Deep AWS expertise: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS, Lambda.
  • Strong Infrastructure‑as‑Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD automation.
  • Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls) and hybrid security controls. Experience with Infoblox (DNS/DHCP/IPAM).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools for VDI/EUC environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Ability to independently manage cloud or datacenter domain end‑to‑end.
  • Proven ability to document, present, and communicate complex infrastructure designs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hybrid environments.
  • Ability to work onsite in Phoenix, AZ in alignment with Client’s collaboration‑focused culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA, RHCE, Nutanix NCP.
  • Experience with Azure Infrastructure, VDI, identity (SSO/ MFA), and other security tools.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, infrastructure, SDLC, and change management control.
  • Experience with ITIL, monitoring/logging tools, and DR architectures.
  • Prior experience in regulated industries, ideally Logistics, Shipping, Transportation, or Finance.
