[Red Devil Log Book] Wayne Deegan

Red Devils,

I regret to inform you that one of our fellow Red Devils has been taken from us. Wayne Deegan died of gunshot wounds on Monday evening in North Dakota. I have spoken to a couple of you already about this and I am sure that the rest of you will feel just as sadened by this news. Here is the news article of the incident.

I can remember the days when Deegan, Val and Miranda would come up to my appartment in Sanford to cookout and play basketball. This shit never happens to the people who deserve it.

Fellow Red Devils,

Deegan was one of the most selfless individuals most
of us have ever known. He was courageous, funny and
honorable. Deegan would drop whatever he was doing to
support his family, and in the words of his sister
Dana, "Wayne died protecting his family". This should
of never happened to Deegan.

Red Devils I talked with Robert after Ariel called and
informed me about the tragic news. Rob and Ariel plan
to attend the services later on this week. For those
of us who are unable to make it Dana asked for us to
pay our respects by telling his family about Deegan.
They want to know how he was in the military, they
want to hear about all laughs each of us had with
Deegan. Dana also would love to see photographs of him
in the military.

You can write her and send e-mails to

627-3615 no later than Thursday. One of Deegan's
family members will be reading our words during the
services. Also for those of you thinking about sending
flowers to his family you can order them through
"Flower -N- Things" in Garrison, North Dakota (701)
463-2003.

After talking to Dana she informed me that Deegan and
his girlfriend have a baby due in June. Most of us are
fathers now and know how financially stressful this
can be so perhaps we can come up with something to
show our support. Just a thought.

I am willing to engage in anything we collectively
agree on. Please post your ideas and suggestions on
the Red Devil Blog and lets make it happen.

Finally, Dana was very happy I called so feel free to
call her at (701) 421-1476. Deegan's family would love
to hear from his fellow Red Devils.

want to talk about Deegan.

This comment was posted on the http://1-504.blogspot.com but didn't get to the group, it doesn't look like Rob and I are going to make it to ND, too short notice to get a decent price on airline tickets.  Anyway, Whisman you may want to contact Dana (Deegan's sister) on the service times, Val posted her email address.
