Have you always wanted to learn to play golf or are you a newbie to
the game? I will cover some of the basics of things you should know
about learning to golf and how to become a better golfer.
First, always have a plan for what you want to learn. Some questions
to ask yourself are, how much do you know about golf, what would you
like to learn about golf, what type of learning environment do you
prefer, how much do you want to pay to learn the game of golf?
Next, you should become familiar with how to grip a golf club; yes you
can grip the golf club incorrectly. The grip is the first thing you
should learn before even swing a golf club.
Next, you should also become familiar with the correct way to swing a
golf club. You should understand the proper "takeaway", "downswing",
and "follow through". You should also understand how the club is to
strike the golf ball at impact.
Next, you should learn proper golf etiquette and golf attire while
playing golf. This will make your round of golf more enjoyable for you
and other golfer around you.
Next, you should practice, practice, practice.
Next, you should take an actual day, preferably during the week so you
won't disturb other golfers as you learn. Take this day to play the
entire course. Do not keep score. Just hit the golf ball; keeping
score can be stressful your first time playing.
Now, that you are getting more comfortable with golf and how the game
is played you can move on to advanced golf swing techniques. You will
need to learn how to swing the golf club smoothly, with an even tempo
and speed. Basically you will need to learn to feel in control of your
golf swing.
Many golfers new to the game and many of those that have been playing
for years need to learn to control their golf swing in order to be a
more consistent golf player.
