MY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE ON WIPRO
This is Biswajeet Bhuyan, B.tech (ETC) 2007-2011 batch from Synergy Institute of Engineering & Technology, Dhenkanal. I had my Wipro On campus on 15th & 16th March, 2011. More than 300 candidates attended this drive. 31 were selected out of them. I was lucky enough to be one of them.
First round was Aptitude.
They selected 99 after aptitude. Then filtered it to almost 45 after the technical and finally eliminated 14 after HR. So the final list was only 31 and my name was 12th in this list.
There were three sections as usual: (No negative mark but with sectional cutoff). Time: 60min
Written test
There were 3 sections as such:-
- Verbal: They asked mainly questions from correction sentences, jumbled words, and questions from passages, put correct form of verb, synonyms and antonyms. But it was easy only. (20 questions).
- Aptitude: Questions came from partnership, probability, ages, train models, Time and distance, pipes etc. Aggarwal book is sufficient to prepare for this section.(20 questions )
- Technical: Questions from C, UNIX, microprocessor, and some conversions from binary to digital so on. (10 questions) for this part one has to brush his/her basic skills of C programming (Array, String, and Pointer).
Note: One has to attend all the questions. And all one need is to manage the time properly!Equal importance should be given to all sections since there is sectional cutoff. And I got cleared in 1st round. It was on 15th March 2011.
Just after that there was essay writing. We entered into the hall at 03:00pm. After that we were told to write an essay on the given topic. We were given 10 mins to complete the essay. Even there was no elimination in this round it was referred to in my technical round. This was to test our communication skills.
Technical Round
This round frown into huge elimination, there were 7 panels & only 45 candidates cleared this round on that day, I was among one of them.
To clear this round one has to be clear at his basics and fundamentals and one should not loose confidence in between the interview.
I entered into the interviewer’s cabin at 12:30pm with full hope. In this round we were to submit our essay sheet. My mind was completely blank! One sir was there.
Then he started with questions like:
Interviewer: Ok Biswajeet being an Electronics student how you are going to work in WIPRO? Me: Explained...
Interviewer: Do you think your subjects are going to help you at your workplace?
Me: Told…
Interviewer: Ok what was your last project?
Me: I said Amplitude Modulator Sir...
Interviewer: Explain with circuit diagram?
Me: Did....
Interviewer: Which programming Languages you have learnt till now?
Me: Explained...he was very impressed with my answer.
Interviewer: Write a program for adding 2 nos. such that the input will be given by me?
Me: Wrote it...
Interviewer: What is the use of #include, , , in this program?
Me: Explained
Interviewer: What is the difference between void and null?
Me: Told.
Interviewer: Then he asked me what do you mean by polymorphism?
Me: Told
Interviewer: Write a program to explain your definition?
Me: Wrote & explained.
Interviewer: Did you study any Data Structure Languages?
Me: Yes Sir RDBMS.
Interviewer: What are an Entity, Entity Set, and Attribute give examples?
Me: Told & explained.
Interviewer: What is a primary key & a foreign key give examples?
Me: Did...
Interviewer: Can any set have more than one primary key?
Me: Explained.
Interviewer: What do you mean SDLC? What are the phases of SDLC & explain a brief account on all models?
Me: Told...
Interviewer: What is your favorite subject?
Me: Digital Electronics Circuit.
Interviewer: Which parts did you like the most?
Me: Told...
After that he asked me if I had any questions. I said yes sir... and asked what are the projects to be undertaken by a fresher in WIPRO? He explained and added that do you think your branch will help you at WIPRO? I replied yes and added some software knowledge’s that we had in our branch and how it is going to help me at my near future.
After that interviewer said: "Take this form and wait outside"...
gave me the application to be filled in order to proceed to the HR round
I was really happy.
He kept the essay sheet with him.
After clearing the tech round, we were to fill the hr form. I took a deep breathe and started 2 fill my application with hope...it was already 1:30pm...so, hr told us to come after lunch break.
HR Round:
I was waiting outside for call from HR. One after the other candidates went inside. HR called one by one and each candidate was questioned for about 10 mins. It was my turn at 03:15pm, I entered into the hr cabin there was a lady inside the cabin...
I wished her good afternoon with a smile. She smiled back and wished me too. And told me to take seat, I took seat with thanks. My questions were:-
Interviewer: so what is your name?
Me: Biswajeet Bhuyan, mam.
Interviewer: Tell me some thing about your family...
Me: Told.
Interviewer: So, where are you staying?
Me: Told
Interviewer: How do you come to this place & how long it takes you to reach here?
Me: Told.
Interviewer: Tell me something about yourself?
Me: When I started with my name & educational qualifications she interrupted me in between & told me to tell other than these as it was already present in the form. So I explained my Strengths, Weaknesses, and Hobbies etc.
Interviewer: How are you overcoming your weaknesses?
Me: Answered.
Interviewer: How can you help your friends & get help from them?
Me: Told.
Interviewer: If you failed to clear any of the rounds at this stage then what steps would you like to take next?
Me: Answered.
Interviewer: Why do you like to join WIPRO?
Me: Explained.
Interviewer: Do you have any questions?
Me: Asked the same question as in my TI round.
Interviewer: I am really tired of giving answers to these questions, ask any other?
Me: How WIPRO will work as an employer’s friendly environment?
Interviewer: Replied.
Me: How are my subjects going to help me at WIPRO?
Interviewer: Explained.
Then she asked me any more questions, I replied No & she told me thanks with a smile, so did I and left the room.
Here mostly they test our communication skills.
We should not take this round casually. This is also an elimination round.
Within half an hour the results were out & fortunately my name was there. Only 31 people were selected in this drive & now I’m waiting for the Joining letter.
