I am doing some house cleaning and catch-up work with my blog while procrastinating over my real work.

I had to hold a short presentation at school earlier in this semester, and with a free choice of topic, I picked Linux. I created this presentation with the notion of being able to reuse it in future, since having introductory material to Linux is always usable. The presentation is short (20 slides) and it briefly covers the history of Linux/Unix/multiuser systems before it branches into the three main areas of Linux use: Server, phone and desktop.

Creative Commons license, etc. If anyone would like the Photoshop .psd templates, please feel free to contact me.

Enjoy!

Very good.
Might be worth stating something that had a big part to play in the proliferation of Unix. Due to Bell Labs being R&D, Bell was prohibited from commercialising Unix, so they gave it away to universities all over the US. This lead to BSD and an overall preference for Unices amoungst students, who later became the geeks that ruled the world.
Linux would probably still have happened, but may not have gained the traction it did.

I covered that part of its history (I dove into Minux too) verbally. I tried to keep the slides. I saw this. It scared me away from detailed slides.

Ok, cool. It's a really good slideset to give the man-on-the-clapham-omnibus a good feel for what Linux is. Nice job.
