Galway 'hacktivist' story on stage
In 2011 a group of 6 hackers from around the world hit high-profile targets such as Fox Network, HBGary, and Sony Pictures, releasing huge troves of data while at the same time poking fun at those they perceived as their enemies.
When a U.S. grand jury indictment named 5 of the 6 members of the hacker group, one turned out to be a 21-year old from Claregalway, studying at GMIT.
Tonight and tomorrow the show 'Always Alone Together' explores his story and reveals many of the other incredible true-life stories behind the development of 'hacktivism' and the struggle to preserve the freedom of the Internet.
Presented by the company Game Theory, as part of the Galway Theatre Festival 2016. 'Always Alone Together' is on at Nun's Island Theatre, at 8.30pm, on Wednesday May 4th and Thursday May 5th.
