This is the outline I have for E1.2, Obama, Please advise if correct.

Obamas Topic: Why we must endure through hardships

Obamas Opinion: Our forefathers endured hardships in war and overcame
them, thus we shoul also

Reasons:

1. "Came forth to meet it[Danger]"-Washington and "far-reaching
network of violence and hatred" & "you[enemy] cannot outlast us, and
we will defeat you"-Obama
* Fear of becoming Prey. Reinforces Ehrenreich's
analysis of the "Prey to Predatror transition"

2. "Gods Grace upon us" & "This is the source of our confidence -- the
knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny" & "words
of Scripture" & "God-given promise "-Obama
* Pseudo-Religious ideals. Meaning that there is a
"higher force" that gives us the power to endure.

3. "sacrifices borne by our ancestors" & "they[soldiers] fought and
died" & "men and women struggled and sacrificed" -Obama
*Sacrifice. Part of history of the U.S., our
Forefathers sacraficed for our freedom, thus we must sacrafice for
freedom to endure.



Also, I wanted to know if I can use other resources to refute against
Obama, or does it have to be specifically Ehrenreich?

Part two of the book is not refering to chapter two right? I found out
that part 2 starts in ch 7.

The excerpts from Page 22 of the Chapter 1 did not give me enough
information to complete this assignment. I had to go out and find the
book and read chapter 2, 'Sacred Meat'. In this chapter Ehrenreich
expands her view of the sacralization of war, giving me much more
content to work from.
