So here's a little something I've been working on.
It's a bit different from your usual story in the way it portrays yukkuris. Hope everyone enjoys it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So this is the last one?”
“Yep last one. They scanned the whole station nothing else.”
“About damn time” the man sighed.  Two men walked down a dim metal corridor, one younger the other middle aged. A garbage bag in the older man’s hand moved every now and then, muffled sounds coming from it.
“So where did these things come from anyway? It’s like they appeared out of nowhere.”
“Well I heard they most likely came off the last freighter. Science team said a few other outposts had run into these...things. They were calling them yukkuri’s I think.”
“Wait this tin can has a science team?!”
The older man chuckled “The rumors are true, we do indeed have one. It’s mostly planetary studies they do I heard.  They snatched up a few of these things though” he motioned to the bag.
“They get pretty bored up there, so these must be a god send to them. Something new to poke and prod at”
“Well as long as they don’t escape” said the younger man. “They wrecked up the place pretty good, gnawing through power cables, tearing up electronics, stealing food, and people’s things and wrecking up the crew quarters.

The older man sighed “Yea they did a number alright, but you’re giving them too much credit. A good chunk of them killed themselves doing all that, most of them are dumber than a sack of hammers. The best of them seem to be about as smart as a dog, I doubt there going to be escaping anytime soon. “
“That’s true. Hell, remember when they first found them? Their corpses had clogged up one of the intake vents?”
The older man laughed “Yea I remember that! Oh I didn’t tell you, Jeff got the crapped scared out of him the other day! He was working outside on the maneuvering thrusters and dislodged something stuck in it, and wouldn’t you know it the charred body of one floated out right by his face! God only knows how it managed to get in there.”
“That’s hilarious, poor Jeff he has the worst luck.”
Suddenly a confused yuing could be heard from the bag which was punctuated by babbling yell.
“Looks like it finally woke up, damn things can be so noisy”“Well we’re almost there” said the older man “We won’t have to deal with them much longer.”

They approached a thick metal door from the look of it was seldom used. The young man slid his hand along a control panel to the side hitting a button with a whoosh the door slid open reveling a small dimly lit room with another thick door across the way. Inside was the most peculiar sight dozens of small creatures ranging from the size of a ping pong ball to that of a basketball filled the room. Many of them turned to door making strange yuing sounds in confusion, others began to cry and hide, while some of the larger ones puffed up themselves. They had a rather uncanny appearance to humans. Like a caricature or an abstraction of a human head. The creatures varied in appearance, some had slug like bodies others retained a more ball like shape. They all had hair or what appeared to be hair, in a variety of colours from shades of brown and blonde to a more exotic purple. A unique feature they all possessed was what appeared at first glance to be a hat or some kind of accessory atop their bodies. Upon closer examination they were actually shells, or sensory organs. Some even had what appeared to be plant stalks growing out from above their eyes, hanging from these stalks appeared to be miniature versions of themselves. The creatures yued and trilled amongst themselves. Crawling or bouncing around the room, some towards the doorway.

“Jesus Christ, I didn’t realize there was so many” said the younger man. “Yea well we won’t have to deal with them much longer said his partner as he opened the bag and dumped the contents into the room. A basketball sized creature with blonde hair and a black conical shell fell out into the middle of the others. It quickly righted its self and began babble angrily at the two men. The older man rolled his eyes and pressed a button on the console the doors snapped shut in the creatures face.

The main lights in the room switched off as the creature’s yued in confusion a dim red light filled the room. The sounds of machinery could be heard as they clanked to life. Many of the creatures began to hop about in the dim light stumbling over each other throwing themselves at the door the men appeared through and crying in confusion. The clanking of the machines ceased and was replaced with sound of hydraulics as the doorway behind the creatures slowly opened. A hissing sound could be heard which quickly grew into a roar. A great wind grabbed hold of creatures before they had time to even make a sound and tossed them back through the doorway. The few farthest from the door fought against the wind for a moment before it snatched them too pulling them out into the abyss. The room was silent once more. “AIRLOCK PURGED” a voice announced through the console. The older man operated the console and the sounds of machines returned. “We’ll I’m glad that’s over with, the airlock will be repressurized in a minute or so. Let’s get back up maintenance, a lot of work ahead of us” said the older man. The younger man shrugged “Well at least were getting paid over time.”
