| OWU event with Edward Snowden | Shari Stone-Mediatore | 27/09/16 09:18 | I hope it's okay to distribute the information below to this list: Next Wednesday the Sagan National Colloquium will be hosting Edward Snowden as part of our speaker series. Edward Snowen is a former intelligence officer who served the CIA, NSA, and DIA for nearly a decade as a subject matter expert on technology and cybersecurity. In 2013, he revealed that the NSA was seizing the private records of billions of individuals who had not been suspected of any wrongdoing, resulting in the most significant reforms to US surveillance policy since 1978. He has received awards for courage, integrity, and public service, and was named the top global thinker of 2013 by Foreign Policy magazine. Today, he works on methods of enforcing human rights through the application and development of new technologies. He joined the board of Freedom of the Press Foundation in February 2014. Mr. Snowden will be speaking to us remotely, and the talk will be in Grey Chapel (NOT the Benes rooms, where most other SNC events are held) at 7 PM on Wednesday, September 28. It has come to our attention that the administration has chosen not to publicize this event widely, so we would appreciate your help in spreading the word to students. Thank you, and hope to see you at this and our other SNC events, Sean McCulloch and Craig Jackson Shari Stone-Mediatore
