We Need You to Help Your NJ Breweries

On Thursday, June 7th, New Jersey's Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee will meet to vote on A-1277. The bill, developed by the Garden State Craft Brewers Guild, will give all craft brewers in the state more flexibility in how, when and where they sell and promote their beer.

By Wednesday, June 6th, please contact the members of the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee (listed below) to let them know that you support the legislation as a craft beer consumer and ask them to VOTE YES on the bill. It's especially important if you live in the district of one of the committee members. Not sure who your legislators are? Find out here.

Current regulations highly restrict what New Jersey brewers can do--especially when compared to the surrounding states of New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Specifically, this bill would allow:

  • one company to open more than two brewpubs
  • production breweries to sell beer for on and off premise consumption
  • breweries and brewpubs to conduct informational tastings off premise
  • brewpubs to distribute beer through the wholesale network

This will lead to a healthier environment for small brewers and more choices for craft beer consumers.

When calling the members of the committee, you should comment on how this bill will help small brewers continue to create jobs, improve tourism opportunities and cut needless red tape. From the consumer perspective, you should comment on how the bill will allow you to have better access to the locally made craft beers you love and want more of.

Remember, please call or email these members by Wednesday, June 6th to make sure your voice is heard and your support for A-1277 is registered.

Thank you for your continued support of New Jersey's craft brewers.

Members of the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee

Tickets Now Available for 16th Annual Beer Festival

16th Annual Craft Brewers Festival

Join us on Saturday, June 23rd for The Garden State Craft Brewers Guild 16th Annual Beer Festival. New Jersey's premier beer festival features 19 craft breweries, food and live music. Tickets available online!

Flying Fish Brewing Company Flying Fish Solar Panel Project Ready to Go Live

The installation of 463 solar panels on the roof of the new Flying Fish Brewery is almost complete. Once connected, the system will generate 100Kw of power, which will meet a significant amount of the new brewery's electric needs. The new brewery is also undergoing shakedown and test brews on the new equipment and the new kegging line is being started up as well. Total production is targeted for mid-summer and then the Cherry Hill facility will close for good.

JJ Bitting Brewing Company will soon introduce their "ONYXXX STOUT" -- a foreign-style stout, super dark, intense and strong (7.5%). The "Woodbridge Lite" will be on soon as well and the "Bierstrasse Hefeweizen" (a classic Bavarian-style wheat) is coming down the pike as well. Also keep an eye out for the "Bittings Best Bitter", which is actually more like an ESB. Brewed with Maris Otter Malt and hopped with Nuggets, it will temporarily replace the "WHALES IPA".

Krogh's Restaurant and Brew Pub Krogh's Nest is Open

Krogh's Restaurant & Brew Pub, 23 White Deer Plaza, Sparta, welcomes the preludes of summer. While they have their Krogh Bar to relax in, their outside area is now open, weather permitting, of course. It is called the Krogh's Nest, and it is available for your dining or sipping pleasure across from Lake Mohawk and a perfect spot as the sun goes down. June brings two great Seasonals: "Tom Klosterhoff's Cream Ale" and "Blum's Belgian Witt".

Krogh's also has their latest Cask-Conditioned Ales as well. These are the latest addition to their handcrafts. On Monday, June 4th, they will be tapping an Oaked I.P.A. at 5 pm! There will also be a "meet & greet " with one of their brewers at this unveiling so come out and join them! Krogh's Cask-Conditioned Ales are limited in quantity so they are offered on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out. Their next Cask-Conditioned Ale will be a Saison, but tap date is to be announced. Please call for availability at 973-729-8428! Cheers and Happy Summer! Relax!
