feed taxonomy kl 8/24/12 2:01 PM
Hi,
Why are the results different when I query for the following?
Thanks

Gives me the newest results >>
query: infrastructure/scan
severity: medium
confidence: 85

Gives me old results >>
query: infrastructure/scan
severity: medium
confidence: 33

if you ever generated a feed with a confidence < 85 and don't anymore, the system will still pick up that old feed if it's not being "refreshed", something we're working on addressing in v1.

today, when the feeds are "refreshed", only 5 or so of "those feeds" (eg: infra../scan + severity=medium + confidence = 85) are kept in the archive, after which they're removed.

so if you generated a feed of say 25% confidence at one point, and then stopped generating it, it won't ever get removed and your queries will result as such. to fix this, you need to go into the database and do a:

$ sudo su - cif
$ psql -U postgres -d cif
psql> select * from feed order by id desc limit 10;

and you should see some of the older feeds that aren't being purged. if you want to remove them, just:

psql> delete from feed where id = 'XXXXX';

does this make sense?

Hi
When i query - select id,uuid,restriction,confidence,severity,description from feed order by id desc;
then i get results.
How do i know which are old and that aren't being purged?

Thanks.

does your crontab has a cif_feed entry in it to generate teh feeds?

eg:

# update the feeds
45     *       * * * /opt/cif/bin/cif_feeds &> /dev/null

if so, what does your [cif_feeds] section of /home/cif/.cif look like?

and when you run:

$ sudo su - cif
$ cd /opt/cif
$ ./bin/cif_feeds -d

what sort of output do you get?

Re: [ci-framework] feed taxonomy wes 9/17/12 4:05 AM
try this:

SELECT id,uuid,restriction,confidence,severity,description,created
FROM feed
WHERE description NOT LIKE 'search %'
ORDER BY id DESC;
