The cable being pulled along through Layton around Gentile and other streets is actually Utopia. I saw their trucks out there and checked out their site for news. Looks like most of the backbone should be done in the next few months. Then a couple of years to get most houses hooked up. Here's to hoping...
Layton city council is a joke... I have been to several meetings not always for Utopia, but it is like talking to the wall, in fact you would get more response out of the sheet rock in your house. They nod Yes all the time, but when it comes down to it, whatever they tell you, expect the opposite to happen. Alex Jensen the city manager was the Chair of the Utopia project for a while and I could never get anything out of him as to when Layton is going to be finished. Here is another tid bit, when I was researching something else because Utopia was so far out on the time line, I looked into Comcast and decided to go with Comcast, but anything new Layton City will not approve any other business to put anything in the ground except Utopia, they will not approve a permit. I got this directly from the Comcast guy that does new construction. I actually have a new a new building development behind my house and Utopia has put I their fiber to that building, and yes I was excited also, but they will not run it up my street, they just put it along Fairfield. So I guess don't hold your breath for Utopia, it is not going to be anytime soon.

You been doing this kind of thing long? I'd like to see Utopia be put in more parts of Layton (who is part of Utopia). I saw a Utopia truck the other day around the corner from my house and I got pretty excited. But when I inquired Utopia I was disappointed. It seems you have to be a new development to even be considered. Any advice / tips you have from visiting with the City Council or other things to be aware of would be greatly appreciated.
