How to build?! New to android apps

Hello all,

I'm new to android apps and have a question about building.

I've added some changes to ZXing and want to test them, but I'm not sure how to compile the app/build an apk file to use on my android emulator.

How can I build the application from the command line on OS X to produce the .apk file?

For reference: I'm a third year student working under the supervision Professor Yang, and this is my first time working with an android app. Not new to java but new to the platform.
